Merrymen’s Tea House Knox

I had a fascinating conversation with Jane McLean from Knox about the history of Merrymen's Tea House: it's thought that, before it became a tea house, it was a carriage wheel-repair shop, that had copious business from the pillbox industry of Knox, who shipped large carriages of pillboxes in and out of the precarious hilltowns.

The Merrymen's Tea House wheel was repurposed from the wheel-repair industry, and, today, the wheel is on display in the archives room of the Knox Historical Society.

There, the Knox Historical Society has a wealth of letters and photos related to the Tea House and the energetic woman who owned it.
