Guilderland Historical Society “Guilderland Past”

The following photograph is on display in the Guilderland Historical Society, current exhibit, "Guilderland Past" from October 2nd - 28th 2015, in celebration of Archives Month in New York State.

Michael Frederick's Tavern interior. "The Mynderse-Frederick House, where the Society today holds its meetings, still retains the bar in what had once been its cellar tap room. Above the bar, for many years, hung the banner carried by the "Wide-Awakes", an organization of backers of Lincoln in the 1860 election who were very active in Guilderland. Since 1972, the Mynderse-Frederick House has been a house museum owned by the Town of Guilderland."
-- detail from Images of America: Guilderland, New York, by Alice Begley and Mary Ellen Johnson. (Item 4 shows the house in one of its earlier incarnations; at present, porch and balcony have been removed.)
